Lou Pinella Retires

Chicago Cubs skipper Lou Pinella retired from managing major league baseball yesterday after 48 years in the game as a player, manager, and announcer. While it is debatable whether this year’s Cubs team qualifies as a major league team, no one can deny that “Sweet Lou” is one of his era’s greats, winning 1700+ games, 3 world series(2 as a player, 1 as a manager), and 3 Manager of the Year awards.

Long known for his fiery demeanor, Pinella mellowed these last few years while managing the Cubs. Notorious for previous run ins with players, this Pinella most quotable reaction to games? “Er, uh, whaddya gonna do”?

Still, we here at Repo’s Delight tip our cap to “Sweet” Lou Pinella. Although he ultimately failed in taking the Cubs all the way, there was never a dull moment!
