Who Gives a Crap?

Every so often, we here at Repo’s Delight feel the need to express our amazement at what the media presents as “news”. At times, it boggles the mind. Read on to view our take on some of the top stories in October thus far…

According to Deadspin.com article, Minnesota Vikings QB Brett Favre sent then NY Jets employee Jenn Sterger revealing photos of “lil Brett”. Like 3 years ago.

I’m no Favre fan, but c’mon DeadSpin! 3 YEARS??? How about we break something that has happened within a full calendar year, at least? Or, since you like to report on Minnesota Vikings players, I’ve got this scoop on a players only boat party you can break…

Chilean miners freed! According to the Chicago Suntimes, all but 2 of the trapped miners have been freed by now. They write, “With remarkable speed — and flawless execution — miner after miner climbed into a cramped cage deep beneath the Chilean earth, was hoisted through 2,000 feet of rock and saw precious sunlight Wednesday after the longest underground entrapment in history.”

Look, I have to admit it’s a feel-good story, but something about this bothers me. Perhaps it’s the way they survived underground for 17 days without anyone knowing and then were “discovered”. The way they conveniently had this “shelter” available just in case of cave ins. Maybe its curious that they were able to survive consistent 98 degree weather without anyone dying or dehydrating. Maybe the shelter has an emergency AC?

Or could it be how they are all coming out to cheers and hugs…HUGS… from everyone they come across. Look, they have been underground for more than a month with no showers, no toilets, nada. They have to possess the most toxic B.O. known to man. Seriously, after a day my balls smell like holy hell…imagine 30+ days?

It all strikes me as an excellent bit of PR by a nation best known for recovering from earthquakes. Call me an ass if you like but in all the time they were sending things down to the miners, no one thought to drag one out? I’m just saying…

According to Yahoo! News, a federal Judge issues worldwide injunction against the “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” policy practiced by the U.S. military. It states.”U.S. Department of Justice attorneys have 60 days to appeal. Pentagon and Department of Justice officials said they are reviewing the case and had no immediate comment.

The injunction goes into effect immediately, said Dan Woods, the attorney who represented the Log Cabin Republicans, the gay rights group that filed the lawsuit in 2004 to stop the ban’s enforcement.
“Don’t ask, don’t tell, as of today at least, is done, and the government is going to have to do something now to resurrect it,” Woods said. “This is an extremely significant, historic decision. Once and for all, this failed policy is stopped. Fortunately now we hope all Americans who wish to serve their country can.””

On the surface this would be big news. If I interested in serving in the military. Oh yeah, and GAY. More importantly, though, is that these people have already been serving in the military for years and have done their duty to protect this country. In all seriousness, it’s time for the military to stop persecuting its own and focus on more pressing issues.

Although it does make you think twice about serving on a boat under the “Rear Admiral” …
